Miraculous Ladybug Season 1 Episode 10 Dark Cupid
In class, Miss Bustier reviews how most fairy tales end with the prince kissing the princess because love is the only thing that can defeat hate. According to Max, this is only true 87% of the time. During this discussion, Adrien absent-mindedly writes on a piece of paper. Miss Bustier, thinking she’s not paying attention, asks Adrien what she just said, and he does it, word for word, without looking up. The bell then rings, prompting Miss Bustier to remind the class to read Sleeping Beauty by Charles Perrault. He dismisses them and wishes them a happy Valentine’s Day.
Adrien stays at his desk thinking of what else to write on the paper before he gets frustrated and crumples it up and throws it away. Marinette stayed behind, rummaging through the wastebasket for paper. Meanwhile, Chloé and Sabrina stop Adrien from leaving. Chloé asks Adrien to sign the poster and Adrien refuses because he doesn’t enjoy signing autographs. Chloé assures Adrien that she is not signing a poster, but a petition against hamster cruelty – because of the ugly sweaters they are forced to wear. Annoyed, he signs it and leaves. Just then, Chloé spots Marinette rummaging through the trash can. She and Sabrina make crude jokes about Marinette being too poor for food and new clothes and then run off laughing.
However, Marinette finds the note. Translated from French, it says: “Your hair is jet black, your eyes blue as the heavens, I want to ask who you are behind your mysterious mask. I see you every day and I would like you to give me a sign.” I’ll love you till the end of my days, will you be my Valentine?”
Tikki is surprised by the fact that it was a love letter, but assures Marinette that it is about her, though Marinette claims that there are many other girls with black hair and blue eyes. Tikki also mentions that the “mysterious mask” is about Marinette’s insides. Marinette jumps up and down excitedly and tells Tikki to pinch her because she must be dreaming. Tikki is confused by this, but she pinches Marinette anyway and Marinette starts screaming.
After the school day ends, Max hands Kim a box, saying that inside the box is the jewel that the girls loved the most. Kim opens the heart-shaped box to reveal a yellow brooch with large blue gems and 10 pearls of various sizes. Alya sees this and pulls Marinette to her, wondering who it’s for. Max almost reveals who, but Kim shuts him up and says, “Walls have ears.” Alya, the reporter that she is, starts recording and asks Kim who the lucky lady is, but Marinette stops her, excited for Kim. Kim then begins to despair because he hasn’t asked the girl to be his Valentine yet, and he doubts she’ll accept. Marinette assures him that the girl will love Kim’s gift and that he shouldn’t be sorry.
Max gives Kim a map with red and yellow highlights. The yellow markers are the girl’s route and the red ones are Kim’s. To cross her path, he must reach the Pont des Arts within two minutes. Thanking Marinette, Kim sprints onto the bridge with the jewelry box in hand. Alya then pokes Marinette, saying that Marinette should follow her advice. This leads to Marinette deciding to write Adrien a letter about her feelings for him.
Chloé and Sabrina are standing outside the school next to a pole with one of Adrien’s new posters, with several girls standing around it, including Mireille Caquet and Aurore Beauréal. Chloé tells the girls to stop gushing over Adrien because he’s hers now. She then has Sabrina unfold the poster that Adrien had unknowingly signed earlier. It’s a copy of the one on the pillar, only it says, “Chloé, the most amazing girl in the universe and the love of my life,” signed by Adrien. This causes the girls to burst into tears. Chloé tells Sabrina to wipe the poster in their faces if they don’t cry enough.
Back in Marinette’s room, Marinette is at her desk, writing words and then scratching them onto a piece of paper. He complains to Tikki that writing love letters is difficult. Tikki suggests that Marinette just needs to write a reply to Adrien’s letter. Marinette wonders why she didn’t think of that sooner, then Alya walks in with a pink heart shaped card. Marinette immediately gets to work and her words come easier when she’s typing. When she finishes, Alya reminds her to sign the card, but they are both distracted when a ladybug enters the room and lands on the card. Alya mentions that ladybugs bring good luck, “especially to cute lovers,” referring to a recent Ladyblog post about ladybugs.
In Adrien’s room, Adrien and Plagg are looking at a Ladyblog article about ladybugs. Adrien is still trying to figure out who Ladybug is and Plagg couldn’t care less and would rather eat cheese. Plagg points out that Adrien knows nothing about Ladybug, but Adrien counters that Plagg knows nothing about love. This causes Plagg to list his favorite cheeses, which further depresses Adrien. At that moment, Adrien decides to tell Ladybug that he loves her. Before returning to his Camembert heaven, Plagg makes a delightful sound in utter terror.
At the Pont des Arts, Kim nervously waits for his girl to arrive. He hears her on the phone and gasps. Kim is in love with Chloé! Chloé discusses the expensive frame for Adrien’s autographed poster, ignoring Kim. Kim steps in her way and stutters before calming down. He drops to one knee and lands in a puddle. He holds out the box and asks if it would be his Valentine, a man on a bike rides by and splashes Kim with more water. Then the wind blows an empty bag of chips into his face. Chloe notices this and orders him to stay still. She then takes a picture of him in a humiliating way and sends it to the rest of the school. Chloé walks away laughing, telling Kim that her heart belongs to someone much more wonderful than him. Kim falls to the ground and cries.
