Miraculous Ladybug Season 2 Episode 9 Glaciator
The bus careens out of control through the streets of Paris, unable to brake until Ladybug and Cat Noir show up and stop the bus together. Cat Noir throws his baton to Ladybug and she catches it as she lets herself fall under the bus, then wraps the baton in her yo-yo string and after securing her yo-yo to the bus throws the baton back to Cat Noir. He reaches out and has it caught by two lampposts, effectively stopping the bus just before it hits August, his mother, and another civilian. As Ladybug and Cat Noir help the passengers off the bus, he suggests that the Ladybugs have a superhero dinner "rooftop style". She smiles and tells him that she would love to, but she already has plans with her friends and most likely won't be able to make it.
At the Dupain-Cheng residence after dinner, Marinette's father makes Marinette's favorite cake decorated with lots of fruit. Marinette thanks him but politely declines, reminding her parents of her plans to go out for ice cream with her friends. Her parents are romantic about André's ice cream and shared a story about how Tom put an engagement ring in their vanilla ice cream to propose to Sabine. According to popular legend, whoever shares André's ice cream falls in love forever. Marinette leaves, blushing when her parents ask her who she plans to share the ice cream with.
At the Agreste mansion, Adrien sits alone in his dining room, waiting for his father to dine with him. Just before Nathalie arrives, she texts Nino to inform him that his father will be having dinner alone in his office. Adrien leaves grumbling about how his dad makes him wait and never bothers to show up. Nathalie reminds him to practice the piano. Upstairs in his room, Adrien plays his piano soundtrack to make it seem like he's practicing as he tells Plagg of his intention to go out as Cat Noir and set up his planned dinner with Ladybug since she didn't say no outright. Plagg reminds him that she didn't say yes either. Adrien then transforms and runs out the window.
Marinette is scheduled to meet Alya, Nino, Mylène, and Ivan at the Trocadero. She is disappointed to find that Adrien's father has banned him from going out that night. Nino gets word that André, who needs to be tracked down before you can buy ice cream from him, has set up shop on the Pont des Arts.
Meanwhile, Cat Noir is setting up a beautiful romantic scene on a rooftop near Marinette's house, complete with dozens of candles and red rose petals. Once it's done, he sits down to wait for Ladybug, still hoping she'll come even though she said earlier she probably won't.
On the Pont des Arts, André makes specially made ice creams for all the young couples. Mylène and Ivan share chocolate-praline-nougat ice cream and Alya and Nino share coconut, banana and passion fruit. Tikki encourages Marinette to get some and says she could share with her, but Marinette is still upset that Adrien can't come. André tries to cheer her up by making her her own ice cream, "peach pink like his lips, mint like his eyes". He promises her that if she eats it, her lover will come. Marinette is distracted by a boy wearing the same shirt as Adrien and knocks the ice cream out of her hand as his friend rushes towards him. André tries to calm her down, stating that the ice cream must be eaten for the spell to work. He quickly makes another, but Marinette sadly declines, even saying that his ice cream isn't magical, that it's just normal ice cream. She leaves dejected and so do her friends.
André is devastated and falls to the ground, crying that his ice cream has never failed before. Hawk Moth appears in his lair and sends the akuma André. André transforms into the Glaciator, a giant ice cream snowman, and starts freezing people into ice cream, except when he sees a couple he leaves alone.
Marinette is embarrassed at home for being rude to André and ruining her friends' night. Tikki comforts her and tells her that everyone makes mistakes and that she will be able to eat ice cream with Adrien another time. He sighs at Tikki and climbs onto his balcony. Tikki comes to her for a moment, but when she senses that Marinette needs to be alone, she falls back. In a nearby building, Cat Noir has given up waiting for Ladybug and sadly blows out the candles, one by one, asking if Ladybug loves him Daisy Oracle style, leaving only one lit to symbolize "She doesn't love me". He stares at the candle, completely broken, until he finally looks up to see Marinette on her balcony.
Cat Noir jumps onto the perch behind Marinette, greeting her and apologizing for startling her. She asks him if he has "superhero stuff" to do, and he explains that he doesn't feel like "being a superhero tonight" and asks if he can stay with her for a while. Marinette accepts and they engage in a comfortable conversation. Cat Noir tells Marinette how he made dinner for Ladybug, he wanted to do something special for her, just so she wouldn't show up. Marinette realizes that Cat Noir is really in love with Ladybug. After discovering that she too is heartbroken, he finally takes her to the place he prepared for Ladybug, lighting all her candles and showing a sensitive side she doesn't know. She says it's beautiful and that she's sorry to disappoint him.
He says it's not her fault, and she reiterates that she feels sorry for Cat Noir because he took the time to set it all up for his partner, but she didn't show. Just as Marinette tries to cheer Cat Noir up by suggesting that some problem might have prevented Ladybug from coming, the Glaciator appears nearby and shoots ice cream at Marinette, which Cat Noir blocks with a spinning baton. As they escape the scene and hide, he asks if another villain has fallen in love with her, but she says no, and that it's André the ice cream vendor. Cat Noir states that Glaciator doesn't look very sweet at the moment, to which Marinette simply says, "It's a long story." Meanwhile, as the Glaciator fires ice cream all over the streets, Cat Noir takes it home and drops it on the balcony. He says that he wants to keep her safe and that he will take the villain away; but before he leaves Marinette grabs his tail and thanks him for cheering her up. He tells her it's the least he can do and storms off. Marinette and Tikki comment on Cat Noir being so thoughtful before transforming.
